After an 8th place in the first race on Saturday, ABT driver René Rast's car was radically modified overnight and adapted to the track conditions. Even the crews of the two ABT drivers Kelvin van der Linde and Ricardo Feller lent a hand. The night shift paid off: René Rast took second place on the grid on Sunday and was able to fight in the leading group right from the start. Only 1.187 seconds behind double winner Sheldon van der Linde in the BMW and Maro Engel in the Mercedes, Rast crossed the finish line in third place. René Rast is now the best-placed ABT driver in the drivers' standings with 21 points.
